The washing machine is designed in California and assembled in China. You put the clothes inside the big tub to wash them, and put the plastic basket inside to complete a spin cycle. The machine is not a dryer, and it does not dry your clothes. The machine spin cycle is a smaller load than the wash cycle. You need to put the plastic drum inside the washing machine to hold the wet clothes. If you wash a normal wash load, plan to do two spin cycles to spin dry the wash load. It fell short on the spin cycle, but it is fine for camping. The clothes are very clean after the wash cycle. The machine worked well for some people but stopped working for others. If it stops working, unplug it then plug it back in. If that doesn't work, call the manufacturer.
