It uses the sun to boil water and is designed and developed in Tennessee before being built by a manufacturer in China. One customer from Michigan has reported that they have been able to boil water in around 1.5 hours with temperatures in the 40-50 range on a fairly sunny day. However, there is no feedback on how well the product performs in winter conditions where temperatures can be near zero degrees Fahrenheit. It is worth noting that the kettle needs to be left out in direct sun for around 5-6 hours for the water to get hot and can only be reused once refilled and left out for that duration again.
